I often share my analogy of Jellyfish or Whale when discussing connection to your True Self.
Most of us are like the Jellyfish. We are at the mercy of the external world, tossed all which ways and disconnected from our True Self and our will. Just like the Jellyfish have no free will and are at the mercy of the ocean. Ruled by the ocean's response to the weather and tides.
The inner work we do helps us to be more like the whale. The whale listens to its inner wisdom and knows when to swim north and when to head back to the south. To the whale, what the ocean is doing is irrelevant. It stays true to its own course while the ocean does whatever it does.
Imagine if you were able to learn and practice how to find that inner compass and be able to stay true to that regardless of what the external world is doing.
